Ghoulapalooza was a hauntingly good time in October 2025. Produced by Fizzbam Fabrications and Puffbugg’s Closet, this event showcases 13 local designers, spooky vendors and some ghoulish drag queens! Each designer got the chance to showcase one main look with a performative runway experience. We had people dancing, playing instruments, and even reciting monologues. The designers were also encouraged to use sustainably sourced materials for their designs, many of our decorations were even made ourselves.

Painting on details

Paper-mached + ready to paint

Behind the scenes of my creation
I chose to base my costume off the infamous Audrey II from little shop of horrors. My dad and I share a love for this movie and I thought it would be fun to try something out of my comfort zone, so why not make a giant man eating plant head??
I enlisted my dad to help me create the structure of the bead using water hosing, duct tape and chicken wire. We attached the top and bottom pieces using a screw and bolt on either side of the “jaw.” I used foam noodles to create the lips for the plant. I then covered the base in paper mache and some yarn for detail. When it was dry I used insulator foam on the inside to create texture and spray painted the whole base. I used acrylic paint to do the details and used the same foam noodles to make the teeth. I covered the whole thing in an acrylic spray to seal it.
In the process of making the head, I was also creating a custom bodysuit to wear. Instead of big top little pants, I went big head, little outfit. Just because the outfit was small, does not mean it was not difficult. I used some scrap fabric I thrifted as well as a scarf my grandmother gave me. The scarf was a hard fabric to work with and I ended up going back multiple times to hand sew the pieces in place. This was my first attempt at a bodysuit, now I definitely think I could make some improvements in the future but I am pretty impressed with myself.
Special Thank you
During this crazy process I decided it would be sick to have my performative element be me dancing around in this big bobble head I was creating. And then I thought it would be even funnier if I had backup dancers I could “eat” on stage. To make this idea possible I asked a wonderful choreographer and dancer to help. Kandace and her amazing dancers helped me create a whole routine to Maneater with some snidbits from Feed Me, a song from the musical version of LSH. I cannot thank Kandace, Darla and Veva enough for making my crazy idea into the coolest performance I’ve done. And thank you to Viiison for letting us use your studio to rehearse. Check out some of the pictures from our performance!
